The Trainer, and Owner
Susan Pommer has been riding since she was a small girl. She doesn't remember the first time but her parents avoided driving by pastures so they didn't have to hear her common question, "When could she get a horse?" Well, that was a long time in coming and she had to wait until she was 24. Susan rode and showed other peoples' horses successfully on the A Hunter Jumper Circuit in Illinois in the late seventies and early eighties. She worked for Carolyn Johnson and trained young thoroughbreds for her. One of the horses was sold for $5000 and instead of getting paid she was giving a 4 year old bay thoroughbred. Susan and Wes did everything together. She taught him how to jump and later in his teens she schooled him to Prix Saint Georges. She had him for 18 years. He was the love of her life. Susan has cliniced with Christopher Bartle, Hank Glene and been a demo rider for Stephan Peters.
Now Susan is a mother of two great boys, Preston and Forrest, and married to Kurt Schindler. She is showing her Dutch Warmblood, Luke, at Prix St Georges and training and showing clients' horses. She has a lot of energy and her lessons really focus on what the horse and rider need. Anyone interested in Cadence is welcome to come and take a tour and watch one of Susan's lessons.
